Hallowed Mount In Nigeria, Source Of Cosmic Records And Control Center Of World Destiny
Physical Mount Of Initiation
People pray fervently nowadays for the souls of the dead not to falter, stumble, and fall on Okenanubode. This prayer for the souls of the dead is a remnant of a more elaborate group of initiation songs. The goal of the initiation served multipurpose. It purpose for the dead, was the trial of souls to separate the good from evil ones (or the guilty from the innocent). The purpose for the living was different.
Living candidates in ancient times were to die from sinful life into pious life, where their souls can live everlastingly among divinities that never die. Some souls would attain the goal while others who falter stumble, fail, and fall. Those who fall would remain dead as they would now live among the spirits that fell from Okenanubode before them. The songs of loved ones or sponsors were originally to aid the souls of the living while on trial as initiation. Such an initiation ritual would be the engagement of the visible that leads to an invisible initiation of invisible souls.
Some people can access Anubode outside the formal initiation process; these access it through transcendental meditation or umian. This is analogous to leaving the world of the living for the world of spirits and ancestors to return with messages from yonder dwellers. Others may use the vision quest approach for the same purpose.
A parlance in Benin Language is that oboiro “dies” and goes into the “world of the dead” from where he returns to life with messages. This is the oboiro method of divination. There is a mix-up here in the minds of the unschooled or neophyte who misunderstand dwelling in erinmwin to be limited to the dead. The correct think is that everything and beings that are not visible or that are above human understanding are erinmwin; therefore the journey would be in erinmwin.
Anubode is a higher or transcendental world that is different from that of astral, witchcraft, and voodoo.
The Oboiro as medium is not the same as being a priest of vodoun religion where the priest is called a houngan; houngan as medium is personification of a zombie, or corpse without a spirit. Oboiro is never devoid of own soul or spirit. The initiation of the houngan includes being literarily buried in a grave for days in a state of suspended animation. He then rises as zombie or corpse without a spirit. The Oboiro goes through lives experiences while being guided by the invisible ancestors who dwell on the Mount. “Oboiro” is a paradigm of the spiritual capabilities of every human being. It must however be developed.
